Emma Bass and Trinity Hill collaborate on a new release: Emma Rosé

Picture1 EMMA Rose 2023

Renowned New Zealand artist Emma Bass and iconic Hawke’s Bay winery Trinity Hill have paired to create the ‘Emma’ Rosé, a light, floral and fruity wine inspired by their mutual appreciation of beauty and nature.

The 2023 Emma Rosé label artwork features roses sourced from the garden of Emma’s father, a retired cardiologist. Traditionally, roses are planted on the edges of grapevines to serve as indicators of potential vine issues; they are beautiful, protective, and perceptive.

A former nurse, Emma’s artistic work is present in many healthcare settings, uplifting the spirits of patients and staff alike while promoting wellbeing and tranquillity.  When presented with the opportunity to create a work that contributes to and raises awareness for the remarkable work done by hospices, Emma leapt at the chance.

Both Emma and Trinity Hill’s creations pay homage to the natural cycle of life – Emma’s use of flowers, and the life of a working vineyard, revolve around the cycles of birth, growth, and eventual demise. In Emma’s case the flowers she uses wilt and fade, and at Trinity Hill, the vines flourish anew each year; then fade after harvest, hibernate over winter and burst into life again in spring.

Trinity Hill is a world-renowned winery with a history of over 25 years of winemaking in the famed ‘Gimblett Gravels’ district of Hawke’s Bay.  Their respect for the unique soils and continual lifecycle of their vines creates award-winning premium wines. They are particularly well-known for crafting food-friendly wines; the Emma Rosé is a deliciously light variety that pairs well with niçoise & Greek salads, soft cheeses, or cured salmon.

This limited-edition wine has aromas of bright fresh violets, forest flowers intermingled with delicate rose petals. The palate is bursting with intense fresh red fruits, plum and spice, with a creamy texture and tangy acidity on the finish that gives the wine vibrancy and freshness.

A percentage of the proceeds from each bottle of both the Emma Rosé, and also Emma’s limited edition Trinity Hill artwork sold, will be donated to Cranford Hospice in Hawke’s Bay.  Cranford Hospice cares for up to 200 patients at a time in their homes and in a dedicated inpatient unit providing specialist palliative care services at no cost to people throughout Hawke’s Bay.
