We’re excited to announce we were named – 2025 New Zealand Syrah “Winery of the Year” at the Melbourne International Wine Competition!

Trinity Hill Wines, located in the renowned Gimblett Gravels Wine Growing District of Hawke’s Bay, is pleased to announce its success at the Melbourne International Wine Competition 2025. In its 13th year, this well-respected competition has awarded Trinity Hill a gold medal, 95 points and “New Zealand Syrah Winery of the Year” for their Gimblett Gravels Syrah 2021, along with a gold medal and 95 points and for their Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2024. Furthermore, the Gimblett Gravels Chardonnay 2023 and the Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2022 both received 93 points and silver medals. These excellent results reaffirm Trinity Hill’s commitment to crafting exceptional wines from two of the key varieties grown in the region – Chardonnay, and Syrah.

Upon hearing the results, Chief Winemaker Warren Gibson remarked, “It’s incredibly rewarding to see our Syrahs and Chardonnays continue to perform so well. These awards are judged by individuals who represent real trade customers, making the scores a strong reflection of the commercial appeal of our wines. Syrah and Chardonnay are cornerstone varietals for Hawke’s Bay, and this recognition is a testament to the long-term commitment and expertise of the Trinity Hill winemaking and vineyard teams across all our ranges.”

The Melbourne International Wine Competition is unique, as it is the only international wine competition where the judges are real trade buyers who evaluate the wine by category and actual price. These judges are buyers from the top Pacific region liquor stores, restaurants, and hotels with over 1,000 wines from eight countries being judged this year.
