Trinity Hill are honoured to support the Cranford Hospice Foundation, and they are dedicated to raising awareness and funds for this vital organisation in various meaningful ways.
Cranford Hospice’s vision is to help individuals make the most of their time, both living and dying, within a compassionate community. They provide outstanding palliative care, education, and support to the people of Hawke’s Bay, serving areas from Mahia in the north to Takapau in the south. Their goal is to empower individuals to live fully during their remaining time, whether at home, in aged care facilities, or in their eight-bed inpatient unit.
Recent Initiatives and Events
In September, Trinity Hill proudly participated in The Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction, a prestigious event that showcases the finest winemakers and their exceptional offerings from the region. This year’s event raised an impressive $335,697 for Cranford Hospice.
As part of Trinity Hill’s contribution, they donated their flagship Homage Syrah—a definitive expression of New Zealand Syrah, inspired by the legendary wines of the Northern Rhône region, particularly Hermitage and Côte Rôtie. This six-year vertical features vintages from 2016 to 2021, showcasing the power and finesse of their iconic Homage over the years, with four bottles of each vintage. This is a unique opportunity to own pre-cellared Homage that is ready to drink, ensuring these exceptional wines will be available for future celebrations for years to come. Trinity Hill is thrilled to announce that the winning bidder on the day was, Richard Brown.
Celebrating Trinity Hill’s Winning Bidder of 2023/2024
Last weekend, Trinity Hill winemakers hosted the Ambassador Blend event for the winning bidder of the 2023 auction lot. This exclusive blending session invited the winner and seven guests, along with Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction Ambassador Mike McRoberts.
With over 30 years of experience as a journalist covering conflicts and major natural disasters worldwide, Mike has a strong connection to Hawke’s Bay as a member of Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi. His passion for fine wines makes him the perfect ambassador for the auction, helping to raise much-needed funds for Cranford Hospice. As he stated, “I’m delighted to be taking on this role, supporting Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction as the largest annual contributor to Cranford Hospice and helping to raise the profile for the world-class wines this region produces.”
Participants at the blending session assessed the components that will form Trinity Hill’s 2024 ‘The Gimblett’ Red Blend, creating trial blends to identify their preferred blend. Guests also had the opportunity to taste back vintages of The Gimblett from 2015 to 2021, gaining insight into how wine composition can vary with each vintage and witnessing the evolution of this remarkable Bordeaux-style red.
In addition, to express Trinity Hill’s gratitude for Richard’s generous support as the winning bidder of the 2024 auction lot, they invited him to a special winemakers’ tasting. This exclusive experience will provide Richard and his guests the opportunity to delve deeply into their wines, strengthening the bond between our community and the remarkable efforts of Cranford Hospice.
